Everybody Loves My Son
April 29th 2008 10:41
LoL, I'm not being conceited... maybe just a bit hahaha
I am saying this because over the weekend we went to one too many get togethers. Saturday was my son's twin cousins' baptism and Sunday was MY cousin's birthday.
My son is the first grandson on both sides, the first great grandchild on my maternal side. Obviously, everybody will want a piece of this little tyke.
We go to my in-laws and everyone in the extended family wants to talk to him and wants a kiss from him. We go to my maternal grandparents' house in the province and everyone (that means at least 20 different people of all age and sizes!) wants to have something to do with him. They kiss, pinch, talk to him, hug and carry him wherever!
Sometimes I feel sorry for him when you see that he's just obliging to the elders' wish for a kiss or hug or whatever new "trick" he can do. They all enjoy talking to him because he talks like an older kid but with more innocence.
I'm proud of the fact that he's so amiable in public, but I sometimes hate that it takes us 2 hours (not exaggerating) to say our goodbyes because everyone wants that last kiss or hug or chat or trick.
Poor kid, but what do you do? I don't want to ask them to not do those things afraid I'll be over-protecting him that way. I figured if he didn't like it he'd shout and run for his life (hahah!)
So what do I do? Really, I don't think there's anything I SHOULD do. I had those few moments of being everyone's favorite and well it didn't really "damage" me.
Everybody loves my son, but he knows who really loves him most... =)
