Help! he's too hyper!!

July 16th 2008 01:56
hyperrrr!!
My 4-year old is as adorable as can be... especially when he wants to be so!

He's sweet -- he comes up to me holds my face and tells me "you're so pretty mommy" and then rubs his cheeks against mine and tells me he loves me.

Yes my heart melts everytime he does that...

BUT. for the past week, I don't know why... but it only started last week. He is soooo hyper!

My husband and I go to work at 1 or 2 am (we work for an american contact center so we adjust our hours to at least meet clients on US time) so we sleep around 7pm. Our little kiddo's up until 11pm and he still sleeps in our room.

From the time we settle in for bed, he would "pretend" to settle in. When he gets bored trying to sleep he starts...

-- singing
-- counting
-- role-playing the day he had
-- imagining monsters and fighting them
-- then if he gets too bored.. he starts tossing and turning and jumping and dancing on the bed!!!

He just gets too hyper because the more energy he releases the more excited he becomes! it's soooo tiring! Of course, we end up waking up every 20 minutes or so shushing him or begging him to sleep.

We've tried everything, making the room pitch black, no TV, no nothing. We already put his toy bin out in the living room so he only plays outside the bedroom.

I know I shoul be proud and nurturing, he's doing so much and he gets excited about things he did for the day.. but mommy sometimes needs sleep too..

*sigh*

help!! what do you do when your pre-schooler's too active??
